Gran Turismo 5 was released in November 2010 for the PlayStation 3. The online servers were shutdown on May 30th, 2014, leading to 3x unobtainable trophies.
The debug and secret menus have been in the game since its inception, but access was removed in v1.04. In order to access the menus, it is recommended to obtain a first print physical copy. The "Platinum", "Essentials", and the "Academy Edition" are NOT able to use these menus.
Using the secret menus, it is possible to make the events easier, and therefore monotonous. Please note that whenever you exit the "Options", you'll have to re-enter the debug or secret menu codes again to access the menus. This also means that you cannot access the debug and secret menus at the same time.
This guide was written based on the EU game discs, but we've included the US & Asian discs and codes that are and aren't compatible.
Versions (Green are compatible):
If you're using a European copy, ensure you've got the middle disc. If you don't have the middle disc, do not continue reading this guide, as it's not relevant to you.
Gran Turismo 5 Secret Menu
All directions use the d-pad, unless otherwise stated.
You'll need:
- A compatible physical copy of Gran Turismo 5.
Method:
- Install the game, ensure you do NOT install the v2.17 update.
- Once installed, start the game.
- Head to "Options".
- Move the cursor to the right, and ensure the cursor is over "Units/Languages".
- Whilst holding L1 and R1, press Up Up Up, Right Right Right, Up Up, Right Right, Up, Right, and then Start.
- The "Options" menu will then chime, and refresh.
- Wait 3 seconds, and press Down to refresh the cursor.
- You can now head all of the way down to the "Secret" tab.
Making GT mode a breeze...
- Head to "Special Settings" within the "Secret" tab.
- Select "Favorite Opponents".
- In the drop down menu, select "Fiat", and click "Register".
- Select "500 F '68", and press Circle.
- Head back to "Special Settings".
- Make sure that "Limited Opponent Cars" is set to "ON".
Now, every opponent in A-Spec and B-Spec will be driving a 1968 Fiat 500, regardless of what event you choose. You'll still have to use a compatible vehicle for the event you are partaking in, but this makes the game incredibly easier from start to finish; with the bonus to be able to "idle" B-Spec mode for quick cash.
Please note, updating your game past v1.04, to the latest version (v2.17) or using a different version of the game (e.g. Standard, then Academy) makes any opponent changes permanent, without the ability to change.
